Description
Information for users!
GSM repeaters / GSM signal boosters are high-tech devices that require specialist installation to avoid potential interference in the radio frequency spectrum. Incorrect installation may affect mobile communication systems operating in the area where they are located and, in extreme cases, access to the emergency number 112.
To put such a device into operation, users must obtain the consent of the National Authority for Communications Administration and Regulation (ANCOM) or the licence holders for the band(s) in which it will be used. Without their written consent, access to the frequency band is prohibited and may be subject to penalties under the law.
ANCOM is the institution that regulates the communications sector in Romania and issues licences for the use of radio frequencies.
We wish to inform our customers and future users of these products as thoroughly as possible in order to avoid any inconvenience and prevent any disruption to telecommunications systems.
For successful installation and optimal results, the external antenna (the antenna that receives the GSM signal) must be installed in a location where the signal to be transmitted indoors is strong. This should be checked before purchasing this product. We recommend that you test the GSM network with a mobile phone exactly where the signal-receiving antenna is to be installed. At this location, you must ensure that the exact type of network you wish to bring indoors is available. If there is a 3G signal outside, this device will only allow you to bring a 3G signal indoors.
Thick building walls, basements, low-lying areas, tunnels, metal structures, long distances to the operator’s transmitter, etc., are all obstacles that make the phone/internet signal inaccessible. A GSM repeater is a convenient solution.
A GSM booster or dual-band GSM repeater is a device that allows the GSM signal to be relayed from an area where it is available to an area where it is not.
Using an amplifier kit is an effective solution for covering indoor areas where there is no signal and for improving the services provided by the main operators:
- Orange, Vodafone, Telekom and Digi (in towns, neighbouring areas and rural areas where there are GSM networks in the 900 MHz and 2100 MHz frequency bands).
Installing a signal booster is justified in places where there is no GSM signal and where it is desirable to use several devices simultaneously (phones, modems, routers) or in places where a cable connection to an external antenna is impractical. The benefits
of using a signal booster are: improved call quality, faster internet/data speeds, and freedom of movement within the area covered by the signal.
Recommended for rural areas, houses, holiday homes, cottages, commercial or industrial buildings with a satisfactory signal outside but insufficient signal inside.
Key features:
Frequencies on which the repeater operates:
890–960 MHz (900 MHz band) 1920–2170 MHz (2100 MHz band)
Maximum capacity: 500–1,500 people. (Under ideal conditions: maximum input signal level, unobstructed coverage area. In practice, the coverage area depends on the location and gain of the indoor antenna).
It relocates the cellular transmission of all operators providing mobile services in the specified frequency band from an area where it can be detected to an area where it is absent.
The package contains:
1. a two-way dual-band GSM repeater, equipped with sockets at the input and output
2. AC/DC power supply
3. External antenna (receivers)
4. RF240 ‘low-loss’ cable with N-type pin for connection to the amplifier’s ‘BTS’ port, 10 metres
5. Internal antenna (transmission)
6. RF240 "low-loss" cable with RF240 and N_tata pins for connection to the "USER" port on the amplifier, 10 metres
Note!
This device successfully relays the signal to an area where it is absent or of low strength, and can improve the signal in an area with a weak signal. In other words, the device relays the GSM signal it detects outside the house into the room, rather than amplifying it. It is marketed as an amplifier, but in fact it relocates the signal from one place to another.
If there is no area where the signal is strong enough to be picked up and then relayed by the transmitting antenna into the enclosed space of the room, the device will not be able to function.
It cannot be used in open spaces such as gardens and fields.
The signal booster kit must be installed by qualified personnel; otherwise, incorrect installation may cause interference in the radio frequency spectrum and affect mobile phone networks.
Useful installation tips:
For successful installation, the distance between the antennas must be at least 20 metres, so that there is no communication between them (they must not be in line of sight, and one must not pick up what the other is transmitting).
To avoid this situation:
1. The antennas must be oriented in different directions, even if one is indoors and the other outdoors. So, if the receiving antenna faces west, the indoor one must be mounted behind it facing east, so that it can transmit towards the east.
2. The transmitting antenna resembles a mushroom. It must be mounted below the level of the receiving antenna, somewhere on the ceiling, and oriented downwards (the opposite of a mushroom) so that it transmits downwards.
3. The external antenna must be positioned at a higher level than the internal antenna. For example, the external antenna should be mounted on a support attached to the house, whilst the internal antenna should be on a lower floor. Under no circumstances should you pick up the signal from the balcony and relay it to a room on the same level.
If the antennas are visible, this creates a field that may interfere with the radio frequency spectrum and the waves emitted by GSM networks.
After every successful installation, once the system is up and running, you should check the area where the receiving antenna is located to see if there is still a signal.
If the installation is correct, the GSM signal in the area of the external antenna (receiving antenna) should not be affected when the device is switched on.
The devices comply with all applicable standards and requirements for sale on the EU market as well as the US market.
